Tumbling Media

Tumbling Media

Corn cob tumbling media is made up of 100% crushed corn cobs. This product is environmentally safe, biodegradable and non-hazardous to use. The corn cobs are soft enough to use on soft parts without causing damage. The starch nature of corn allows for high absorbancy of moisture and oils.

Tumbling media is used to deburr, polish, and clean metal parts. It is also used to remove scale, rust, and other contaminants from metal parts. Tumbling media can be made from a variety of materials, including metal, ceramic, plastic, and natural materials such as corn cobs and walnut shells.

The main application of corn polishing cob media is a drying agent in a vibratory dryer machine during the mass finishing process. In vibratory drier, corn cob not only absorbs water and moisture on parts’ surface but also removes oil and dirt on parts.

Corn cob tumbling media is often used for the following purposes:

Polishing: Corn cob media is excellent for achieving a smooth and polished finish on objects. It can help remove light scratches and imperfections from surfaces, resulting in a shiny appearance.

Cleaning: The absorbent nature of corn cob media allows it to soak up oils, dirt, and other contaminants from the surfaces of objects being tumbled. This makes it effective for cleaning and degreasing.

Deburring: While corn cob media is not as abrasive as other media types, it can still aid in the removal of minor burrs, edges, and sharp corners from parts.

Drying: Corn cob media can also be used for drying wet parts. The absorbent properties of the corn cob help to absorb moisture and leave parts dry after the tumbling process.

Delicate Items: Corn cob media is often preferred for delicate items like jewelry, brass, and softer metals, as it provides a gentle yet effective finish without causing damage.
